ABOUT THE MEETING

This symposium is structured as a practical, clinically oriented discussion of risk reduction in obstetrics and efforts to improve patient safety. A series of lectures will address an evidence-based approach to emergencies on labor and delivery, quality assurance programs, using a systematic approach for preventing errors, the role of simulation on labor and delivery, and other pertinent topics affecting clinical practices. Tips, protocols, and pitfalls provide balance to the program. Attendees will be provided with necessary tools to help establish a patient safety program such as management protocols, simulation scripts and near-miss/data collection processes. The faculty has been selected for their teaching ability, as well as for their expertise in this field.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This course should benefit physicians and nurses in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology. It should also be valuable for those involved in women's health such as nurse managers, perinatal nurse specialists, quality assurance personnel and hospital administrators.

OBJECTIVES
