ABOUT THE MEETING
MAIN MEETING
The technologies of CTA and MRA are at the forefront in diagnosis and treatment planning of cardiac and peripheral vascular diseases. During this course imaging faculty will emphasize image acquisition, post processing and interpretative review strategies. Clinical faculty will emphasize clinical indications, key imaging features, therapeutic options and management in vascular disease. Several interactive workstation reviews have also been added to further enhance the clinical presentations.
Optional Cardiac and Peripheral CTA Case Review Sessions are scheduled at the end of the main lecture program on Friday and Sunday. These are designed to meet both ACR and ACC interpreting guidelines for Cardiac and Peripheral CTA. Approximately 20 non-direct performance contrast enhanced cardiac CTA cases and 20 peripheral CTA cases will be presented during the Case Review Sessions.
*Workstation and Case reviews will be presented on a Vital Images Vitrea workstation.
OPTIONAL CASE REVIEWS
Following the didactic portions of the meeting Friday and Sunday, optional Peripheral and Cardiac CTA Case Review Sessions will be offered. These case review sessions have been designed to meet both ACR and ACC interpreting guidelines for Cardiac CTA and the newly adopted Peripheral CTA requirements. Approximately 20 non-direct performance contrast enhanced Peripheral CTA cases will be presented Friday May 21 from 4:15 - 6:15 PM (Part I). In addition, approximately 20 non-direct performance contrast enhanced Cardiac CTA cases will be presented Sunday May 23 from 10:15 - 12:15 PM (Part II). Each session will be presented by experts in the field of peripheral and cardiac CTA. The case reviews will include the case history and scanning techniques while simultaneously providing tips on how to competently recognize and diagnose pathology.
*Case reviews will be presented on a Vital Images Vitrea workstation.
TARGET AUDIENCE
MAIN MEETING
This CME activity is primarily designed to educate radiologists, who perform and interpret CTA and MRA studies. It should also be of interest to vascular surgeons, and cardiologists who interpret vascular studies. In addition, referring physicians who order these studies may find this CME activity useful so that they might gain a greater appreciation of the strengths and limitations of CTA and MRA. Technologists performing these types of studies should also benefit from this course.
CASE REVIEWS
The case review sessions should benefit physicians interested in the performance and interpretation of cardiovascular and peripheral CTA.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
MAIN MEETING
Attendees should, at the completion of this course, be able to:
- Discuss the indications of CTA and MRA in the diagnosis and evaluation of peripheral vascular disease.
- Optimize imaging protocols for CTA and MRA.
- More effectively utilize CT and MR angiography for the diagnosis, treatment and follow up of peripheral vascular disease.
- Discuss the imaging protocols and treatment options for aortic aneurysm repair.
- Incorporate state of the art CTA imaging protocols for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic mesenteric ischemia.
- Optimize cardiac CT and MR imaging protocols, and review processes.
- Explain current contrast safety issues and guidelines including alternatives.
No special educational preparation is required for this CME activity.
CASE REVIEWS
At completion of each case review session, registrants should be able to:
- Recognize normal cardiac and peripheral vascular anatomy in multiple imaging planes
- Discuss the best interpretation strategies for CTA
- Identify common cardiac and peripheral vascular pathology
- Differentiate plaque from thrombus and other causes of stenosis or failed graft.
No special educational preparation is required for this CME activity.
